Essential Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Motorcoach Company

1.  How long has the company been in business?
Find out when  Annett was established and their familiarity with the travel and tour business.

2.  Does the company carry the required amount of insurance?
The Federal Department of Transportation requires 5 million dollars combined, single-limit liability.

3.  Ask about the company’s DOT rating.
The US Department of Transportation issues safety ratings based on a company’s record and adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The highest rating possible is Satisfactory. Other ratings are Conditional, Not Rated, or Unsatisfactory. It is easy to find a carriers safety rating on the internet. Go to www.safersys.org and you can search by company name, USDOT number or MC number.

4.  Ask about the size of the company’s fleet?

Overall fleet size can be an important factor.  Will the company have backup equipment in case of equipment failure?  Can the company provide additional equipment of their own should the size of your group grow?

5.  What is the company’s emergency rescue plan?
The bus company should make all the necessary arrangements to get you back on the road in the least amount of time possible.  At Annett, our goal is within two hours.  With our fleet of buses positioned strategically throughout the state, our goal is to first make the mechanical repair onsite if feasible or replace your bus quickly and efficiently.

Another great question would be to ask how they maintain their fleet. Do they employ ASE certified mechanics?

That’s a good idea to ask the company’ experience. That is directly affected by how long they’ve been open. I want to take a bunch of my friends to California so I’m thinking about getting a bus.
